The K-9 Critical Care Fund – We Need Sponsors!

September 4th, 2009  |  Published in Adoption, Events, Success Stories, Uncategorized

K-9 Lifesavers provides Veterinary Care to many helpless shelter dogs that would otherwise be euthanized. All of our dogs receive appropriate routine care such as vaccines, wormings, heartworm testing, and spays and neuters. But we also help those needing extraordinary care. This includes heartworm treatment, tumor removals, dentals, orthopedic surgeries, critical care and much more. Below are some of the animals who have benefited from this but there are so many more in need. Please consider donating to help these once throw away dogs get the care that they need.

 Treated and Adopted

little-debbie

Meet Little Debbie!  She was rescued from a High Kill Shelter about a month ago along with her mom and siblings, and sadly, all of the puppies caught Parvo.  Parvo is incredibly deadly to puppies this little, and unfortunately Little Debbie’s brother, Twinkie, didn’t make it.  Little Debbie spent 10 days in the hospital, but she’s a fighter and thankfully pulled through.  She lost a lot of weight — she should be at least 7 lbs, but is currently only 3.

Little Debbie is an amazing example of determination.  She is back in her foster home and eating everything in sight!  She has even been adopted, but she has to get a little bit stronger before going to her forever home.
K-9 Lifesavers is trying to raise money to help pay for the whole litter’s hospital bills.  In total, we spent $6,000 getting these puppies better — and it was worth every penny.  We have a generous sponsor who has agreed to    match our donations up to $5,000!

little-debbie1If we could raise that much, we could pay off all of their vet bills and help other K-9 Lifesavers dogs get healthy!  Harriette, Little Debbie’s aunt, came to us with a broken ankle.  She had surgery and is healing wonderfully, but her bill cost $4,000.  And Megan just had ACL surgery, but it looks like she’ll need surgery on both her legs.  Her estimated bills are over $10,000.

little-debbie2We can’t thank you enough for all the help that you already do in saving these dogs.  We know these are tough times, but any little bit extra that you could donate will go along way to helping so many more live happy and healthy lives.

If you are able to donate any amount please click the button below to make your donation.

We would like to Thank everyone that has been able to donate to help us pay off the bills, we have raised so far $900!!!!  Don’t forget that we have a sponsor that will match what we can raise up to $5000!!!!  We know that in these tough times it’s hard to find that little bit of extra money, but any amount would be really help us to get these bills paid.  If your able to donate any amount it will add up quickly and we can rescue morefrom being euthanized.

addie

Meet Addie!!  She is a sweet three year old Labrador /Basset mix, who was  dogs rescued from a high kill shelter two weeks ago.

We knew when we rescued her that she was already heartworm positive but when she got here we noticed that she didn’t really want to walk.  We thought maybe she had Lyme disease, which can cause stiffness in the joints. She was immediately taken to the vet where we discovered that Addie has a very serious problem with her back leg.

The ball of her leg joint is no longer there. She is also missing parts of her leg bones. It has worn away and no longer exists. Addie is in a great deal of pain and on several medications to help control it and we are going to do whatever it takes to help Addie!  She has an appointment on July 9 with an orthopedic surgeon to see what can be done to save Addie’s leg.

Being a nonprofit 501© 3 organization we depend on donations to help save dogs lives. Are initial estimated costs to help Addie are $7,000 and we need your help to pay her bill. Please consider donating for Addie’s surgery, she deserves a chance at a better life and every little bit helps!
